Car Charging of the Future
ieMETaS [imetas] stands for: intelligent e-Mobility, Energy & IoT from Saarland
The idea.
The goal is to create a model charging infrastructure and connected backend system that are ready for the future: More than just a parking space—the connected parking facility of the future.
In addition to technical feasibility, special attention is paid to energy management, monitoring parking space occupancy, and the comprehensive management of IoT data via a central platform. The effective utilization of the charging infrastructure, as well as the communication and value chains, are demonstrated and tested here.
The solution is a platform that enables the use and control of charging infrastructure. This involves the installation of semi-public charging stations and complementary value-added services. In addition, a blueprint will be developed for the applicants’ joint smart parking and electric mobility solution.
Challenge.
More and more electric cars are entering the market. This increases the need for charging options in both the private and public sectors. In addition to energy considerations, there are also requirements for the construction of charging facilities within the urban infrastructure. Furthermore, this leads to an avoidable load on the power grid, which must be addressed with smart solutions.
